Legal Education – Courses for 6th Form Students

Whilst I was a partner at Canter Levin and Berg I developed an interest in legal education and training and from that has flowed my desire to establish this firm offering legal education and training.

With a background of over 25 years in the legal profession, during which time I undertook instruction in a wide range of matters, together with a keen interest in imparting the knowledge that I have acquired and embarking on a career in teaching I am now extremely well placed to offer my expertise to you.

I am able to assist you in securing accreditation status and then deliver on your behalf two vocational law courses for your 6th Form students.

Firstly, I can offer the City and Guilds/ILEX (Institute of Legal Executives) Level 2 Vocational Paralegal Studies course. This is a 1 year course requiring 120 hours of guided learning.

There are 3 modules. The first 2 are core units titled “The Legal Environment” and “General Legal Principles”. These are completed by 2 assignments for each module and a 1 hour on line multiple choice exam.

These modules give students an introduction to:-

  • The Nature of Law

  • How the Legal System operates

  • Resolving disputes

  • Contract Law

  • Employment Law

  • Land and Property Transactions

  • Rights and Duties of Citizens

  • Criminal Law

  • Citizens and the State

    • In short successful students will have gained an understanding of the institutions and personnel within the English Legal System, general legal principles with regard to Contract, Employment, Land Tort and Criminal Law and the rights and freedoms of individuals who are members of the State.

    A third module which is assessed by assignment only must be undertaken. This is offered in either Civil Litigation or Criminal procedure.

    The second course that I offer is the Level 3 ILEX Professional Diploma in Law. This is a 2 year course which for funding purposes requires 360 hours guided learning per year.

    In Year 1 students will undertake study in relation to:-

  • Legal Practice

  • Business

  • Criminal Procedure

  • Conveyancing

  • English Legal System

  • Land Law

  • Criminal Law

  • Tort

    In Year 2:-

  • Civil Litigation

  • Tribunals

  • Family Practice

  • Succession

  • Contract

  • Family Law

  • Wills and Succession

  • Employment Law

    • Naturally the Level 3 Diploma deals with matters in much greater detail. This course is the first step towards qualification as a Legal Executive and beyond that even as a Solicitor. This is the qualification route that I took which is why this course is very dear to my heart.

    Successful completion of the vocational courses will massively enhance the student’s employment opportunities and prospects particularly in the legal profession especially at a time when many firms believe that the recruitment of paralegals and legal executives is the route to greater profitability.
